    One thing that can ruin a hiking trip is unexpected weather conditions. Prepare for changing temperatures and rain. Bring a poncho and an extra pair of socks for rain. A jacket or extra layers for cold weather and lighter clothing for hot weather. Pack a wool or fleece cap to help retain body heat. An extra pair of socks are a necessity should your original pair become wet. Also bring a light space blanket for unexpectedly cold nights or for fighting hypothermia.

  14. Food Storage Device
